Travis is the founding principal of CMR Risk & Insurance Services, Inc. A graduate of San Diego State University with a B.S. in Marketing and an Associate Degree in Risk Management, Travis has been helping business owners manage their exposure to loss and developing risk control and insurance programs for over 25 years. Travis is actively involved in Low Income Housing Tax Credit Industry and SDSU Alumni Associations.
Erik has spent nearly 20 years in the insurance industry with a focused expertise in Risk Management and Insurance. Erik joined CMR in 2007 as a Principal and Vice President having an active role in the growth of the agency over the 15 years since CMR’s inception. Erik graduated from San Diego State University with a B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis on Finance as well as holding an Associate in Risk Management designation. Erik is actively involved in various trade and community organizations including the AGC, ASA, NCSHA, and San Diego Nice Guys. Erik is a resident of Carlsbad where he grew up graduating from Carlsbad High School. When not working, Erik enjoys spending time with his wife and three boys.
Bill joined CMR in 2020 with over 24 years of industry experience as a Principal, Broker, and Manager at Marsh & McLennan Agency and Barney & Barney Insurance Brokers. Bill holds the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI), Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS), and Property Risk and Insurance Specialist (PRIS) insurance designations. Bill is a graduate of University of San Diego and is actively involved in many philanthropic organizations including Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego, various University of San Diego initiatives and co-founder of the Daisy Miracle Foundation at UCSD.
A native of San Diego and a graduate of San Diego State University, Bill began his insurance career at a local Insurance Agency in 1997. Throughout his career, Bill has continued to focus his efforts on designing insurance placements and risk control programs for Middle Market companies within the Real Estate, Construction and Healthcare industries. Bill is also involved in various trade and community organizations including the AGC, ASA, NCSHA, SDSU Alumni Association and The East County Posse. When not working or volunteering, Bill enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters.
Grant grew up in Napa, CA and is a graduate of California State University-Sacramento. Grant began his insurance career in 2005 as a benefits accounts manager assisting businesses of all sizes by structuring their employee benefit plans while also assisting with the overall administration of the plans. Grant joined CMR in 2011 as part of our business development team and has grown into the head of the benefits division and a principal of CMR. Grant continues his success through superior HR support and benefit program design and implementation.
Andy joined CMR in 2018 with over 17 years of industry experience as a Broker at Arthur J. Gallagher, G.S. Levine Insurance Service and a small local San Diego Based firm. He graduated from the University of San Diego with a B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and also holds an Associate in Risk Management (ARM). Andy leads CMR’s Construction Practice Group and was named an agency principal and Vice-President in 2021. His focus is on helping mid to large sized construction, real estate and development firms design insurance placement and risk control strategies. Andy is also involved in various trade associations and community organizations including the AGC, ProVisors, University of San Diego Alumni Association and the San Diego Bowl Game Association Holiday Bowl.
When not working, Andy enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter and son.
Robert joined CMR in 2017 with over 20 years of industry experience as a Regional Manager and Sales Leader at Philadelphia Insurance Companies and Broker at CMR Risk & Insurance Services, Inc. Robert is actively involved in many philanthropic organizations including Rady Children’s Hospital, Humble Design, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego. In addition to his non-profit activities, Robert is actively engaged in the San Diego Housing Federation and Texas Affiliation of Affordable Housing Providers.
In Robert’s free time he enjoys spending time with his wife, two daughters, trying new restaurants, and finding time to work out or play tennis.
Kyle joined CMR in 2020 with over 20 years of industry experience as an Underwriter at Travelers Insurance and then as a Surety Agent/Broker at BB&T – John Burnham Insurance Services. He graduated from San Diego State University with a B.A. in Economics and holds an Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding, and Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designation. Kyle leads CMR’s Surety Practice Group and was named an agency Principal and Vice President in 2023. His focus is on helping mid to large sized construction firms with tailored surety programs – appropriate rate, indemnity, and capacity to support the client’s growth. Kyle is also involved in various trade associations and community organizations including the AGC, SDSA, ASA, and SDSU Alumni Association. Kyle is a resident of San Diego where he grew up graduating from Poway High School.
When not working, Kyle enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter and son.

Alexandra Smith joined CMR in 2023 and serves as the Director of Engagement & Development at CMR, with over ten years of experience in human resources and organizational development. She specializes in building scalable HR strategies, fostering employee engagement, and aligning people operations with business goals. Before joining CMR, Alexandra held key roles at New Culture, Lumeon, and People Solutions, where she played a pivotal role in shaping people operations, ensuring compliance, and strengthening workplace connections. Her focus on employee well-being, communication, and satisfaction has helped create positive, productive work environments. Alexandra holds a degree in psychology and political science from San Diego State University and is passionate about driving organizational success through people-centric strategies.

Paul is passionate about education and cross-functional collaboration—partnering closely with underwriting, claims, loss control, and service teams not only to deliver unified solutions, but also to elevate internal knowledge and client understanding. He actively fosters a culture of continuous learning, ensuring both teams and clients are empowered with the insights needed to make informed decisions.

Steve is the Chief Financial Officer for CMR Risk & Insurance Services, Inc. With more than 30 years of accounting and finance experience, Steve is focused on bringing an executive financial perspective to expanding CMR’s 1) market reach and scale, 2) financial discipline, analysis, and forecasting and 3) leverage of technology to drive efficiencies. Steve has led accounting and finance teams in healthcare, manufacturing, professional services, energy, and retail. Steve has enjoyed the diversity of perspective gained from his travel to every continent including living abroad for two years in the Dominican Republic. Steve holds a MAcc from Brigham Young University, Provo.
